Tyga wants sole custody of the son he shares with ex Blac Chyna.
The "Rack City" rapper, born Michael Stevenson, requested custody of 11-year-old King Cairo Stevenson on Oct. 13 in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY on Tuesday. His response comes nearly three months after the TV personality and model, born Angela White, requested joint custody of their son in the petition to determine parental relationship, which she filed in July.
According to his filing, Tyga, 33, is seeking legal and physical custody and offers Chyna, 35, weekend visitation with King Cairo, starting after school on Fridays and ending at 5 p.m. on Sundays. Tyga's filing also requests Chyna only be able to take King out of the state of California with "written permission."
Legal custody grants a parent decision-making power over a child's health, education and welfare. Having physical custody means the child regularly lives with that parent.
USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Tyga and Blac Chyna for comment.
According to her July 24 filing obtained by USA TODAY, Blac Chyna requested that they share joint legal and physical custody of King and for Tyga to pay attorney's fees.
Tyga and Blac Chyna started dating in 2011 and were engaged when they split in 2014, nearly two years after King Cairo was born. Soon after, Tyga started dating Kylie Jenner. The two split in 2016.
Chyna, who is currently dating songwriter Derrick Milano, also shares a 6-year-old daughter, Dream, with her ex-fiancé, Rob Kardashian.
In 2017, Chyna sued Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian and Kylie Jenner for $100 million in lost earnings over the cancellation of her reality show "Rob & Chyna" in 2016.
In May 2022, a Los Angeles jury found that none of the members of the famous family defamed Chyna, nor did any interfere with her contract by convincing the E! network to cancel her reality show “Rob & Chyna.”
